Mirella Sahetapy photographs staged images. Realities. Austere and dry.
The images she roughly photographes in daylight form the basis for her carefully edited photo’s.
She first comes up with images in her head, then she abandons the idea, creates a decor, costumizes textile, makes props and photographs intuitively.
She then edits the raw image in colour, tone and structure. It is also at that point that the final form and idea are decided and created.
“She has an austere, plain simplicity. Kind of meditative.” (curator Cigdem Caglayan)
